46 Darling Street, Moonee Ponds
This project at 46 Darling Street, Moonee Ponds transforms an existing single-storey dwelling into a refined modern luxury residence through a substantial double-storey extension and integrated outdoor living spaces.
The design strategy focuses on retaining the established street presence while introducing a contemporary architectural language to the rear and upper levels. Internally, the ground floor is reconfigured to create expansive open-plan living, dining, and kitchen zones that form the social core of the home, seamlessly connecting to landscaped outdoor areas, alfresco entertaining spaces, and a swimming pool.
Vertical expansion allows for a clear separation between public and private zones, with upper-level accommodation arranged as a private family retreat. Generously proportioned bedrooms, multiple bathrooms, and flexible living spaces are organised to maximise natural light, outlook, and privacy, reinforcing the home’s luxury character.
Architecturally, the extension is articulated to manage scale and bulk while responding sensitively to neighbouring properties and planning controls. Material selection, façade modulation, and setback strategies are carefully employed to achieve a balanced, contemporary outcome.
This project reflects NPDA’s approach to bespoke luxury renovations, delivering a cohesive integration of existing and new architecture that enhances liveability, amenity, and long-term value.
