132 Ashburn Grove, Ashburton

This project at 132 Ashburn Grove, Ashburton involves a considered renovation and alteration of an existing double-storey dwelling, transforming the home into a refined contemporary family residence while retaining its established suburban presence.

The design strategy focuses on selectively reworking the internal layout to improve spatial flow, functionality, and connection to the rear outdoor areas. The ground floor is reconfigured to accommodate generous open-plan living, dining, and kitchen spaces, enhancing everyday usability while strengthening visual and physical links to the landscaped garden and swimming pool.

Upper-level works refine the private living zones, improving bedroom layouts, circulation, and amenity while maintaining a clear separation between public and private areas of the home. Targeted structural and material upgrades allow the existing dwelling to be modernised without compromising its original character.

Architecturally, the renovation introduces a contemporary material palette and articulated façade elements that clearly distinguish new from existing, while remaining complementary in scale and proportion. Timber cladding, updated glazing, and carefully detailed junctions are used to deliver a cohesive and elevated architectural outcome.

This project reflects NPDA’s approach to bespoke residential renovations, delivering a balanced integration of old and new architecture that enhances liveability, visual clarity, and long-term value.
